About

Hill Country Woodworks has been designing and building handcrafted furniture of exceptional quality and beauty since 1976.

We create a wide variety of custom home and office furnishings including sofas, chairs, dining tables, cabinets, beds, dressers and many other one-of-a kind items. We work with a range of domestic and exotic hardwoods and can incorporate metal, glass, and stone, as desired. We design and build all pieces on site.

Our Story

Hill Country Woodworks has been designing and building furniture for nearly 50 years. Our furniture is hand-made, start to finish by a single craftsperson highly trained in furniture design and construction.

We use a combination of time-honored joinery and hand-rubbed finishes to insure our customers receive the highest quality furniture.

Mark Todd has long been a key part of Hill Country Woodworks and has designed and built countless custom pieces. Mark was an engineering student at North Carolina State University before finding his way to furniture design after working in Exhibit Design in the Raleigh area. Mark’s creative furniture designs for Hill Country Woodworks have been featured in Chapel Hill magazine.

Will Bucher, a Chapel Hill/Carrboro native, graduated from Appalachian State University’s top rated furniture design program. He has extensive knowledge and can answer just about any question you might have about different woods, finishes and woodworking. His craftmanship and attention to detail is exceptional.

Everyone at Hill Country Woodworks is passionate about building the best possible furniture. We look forward to meeting you and creating something just right for your life.

Furniture Care & Fabrics

Hill Country furniture is built to last decades but may require maintenance from time to time. Cushion covers may go out of style, and finish may show signs of wear. We can arrange for cushion recovers and do offer refinishing. Here is a link to Kravet fabrics, and step-by-step instructions for refinishing on your own if you prefer. Of course, if you ever have a question or your Hill Country furniture needs repair, call us at 919-929-2075.
